Through their
activities, many companies in the greater Houston not only generate
Municipal Solid Waste, but also ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal
materials. HIPPO WASTE can help you set up a full recycling program
that will handle both. In many instances, the potential revenues
from scrap metal materials will reduce or offset the cost of your
regular waste removal. |
| Ferrous
SCRAP |
By
far, the most common type of scrap metal materials, ferrous
scrap -or carbon steel- can take many different forms (pipes,
plates, valves, beams, etc.). Whether it’s been accumulated
over the years or it is the ongoing result of your production
process, carbon steel can be easily recycled. Hippo
Waste will help you determine the most cost effective way
to collect it and transport it for recycling purposes.
|
| Non-ferrous
scrap |
Brass,
copper, aluminum, stainless, electric wire, etc. Non-ferrous
scrap metal materials generally generate more revenue than
regular carbon steel. Despite a lesser density, and because of a
higher value, non-ferrous materials are usually collected in
smaller containers (6’ by 4’, hoppers). Hippo
Waste can assist you organizing the whole recycling
process.

| Benefits
of steel recycling ?
|
Recycling
programs are established primarily to reduce the solid waste
stream and save landfill space. For a company, steel recycling
might not only generate revenues (depending on the quality,
volume and market value of the steel being recycled) but will
also lead to savings by reducing the number of loads necessary
to handle the regular solid waste stream.
Each
year, steel recycling saves the energy equivalent to
electrically power about one-fifth of the households in the
United States (or about 18 million homes) for one year. And
every ton of steel recycled saves 2,500 pounds of iron ore,
1,400 pounds of coal, and 120 pounds of limestone.

| EQUIPMENT& TRANSPORTATION |
Based
on the type of scrap metal materials generated by your activity, Hippo Waste will
provide you with the container(s) that will fit your needs
(hoppers, 6’ by 4’, 20, 30 and/or 40 cubic yards). Equipment
will be delivered and picked-up in a timely manner and very
professional way. Whenever needed, Hippo
Waste will also organize transportation on flatbed and/or
gooseneck trailers.
