Fellow Jewish Bikers,
The 2008 R2R selection committee
has evaluated the venues offered for consideration
and has chosen Omaha, NE, for the location of the
next R2R. We will be traveling there in support of
the National Holocaust Endowment Fund (NHEF), an
organization that supports Holocaust Education
through its charitable efforts.
(See
http://www.sixmillionlights.org/).
As previously defined, there are several criteria
that are used for consideration and selection of the
venue. Amongst them are:
-
Having a noteworthy activity
is support of Holocaust education and
remembrance;
-
Being in a location that is
within a reasonable riding distance for as many
of the JMA clubs as possible (and for this year,
a non-East coast location);
-
Having logistical support for
accommodating all attendees in a single
location;
-
That the area provide for
some good biking and local "attractions," and,
-
That the city chosen is
preferably "small" whereupon the presence of the
JMA will be noticeable, newsworthy and have an
impact.
Omaha and the NHEF meet these and
other criteria that we deem important. Having made
our choice, actions are being undertaken to assign
individuals and committees to attend to the myriad
of details to insure a successful R2R. The tasks
have been elaborately detailed in a Ride to Remember
Organizing Committee Guideline that was thoughtfully
put together by YOW, Canada, members Sid Rochwerg
and Steve Stein, emanating from their successful
production of the Whitwell R2R.
Much more information will be forthcoming from the
R2R organizing committee as plans and details
unfold, but for now, simply know the location. We
are in the process of coordinating the dates with
the NHEF and that will be published ASAP so that
calendars can be blocked out.
Regards to all,

Mel |
