Buying a Home In Houston

Buying a home is not an easy task. Houston metropolitan area can present few challenges. Houston sprawls on over 600 square miles. There are many great neighborhoods and small towns all around Houston. The best home for you will depend on your priorities.

There are several things you need to do before buying a home:

Financial

  • Figure how much you can afford to pay for a home mortgage (usually it is 30% of your monthly income)
  • Find what is your credit rating - you are entitled to one free credit report a year, but it does not include your score
  • Repair your credit - be sure to pay any unpaid balances on delinquent accounts. Check to say that you DO NOT have any NEGATIVE items on your credit report.
  • Save Money - you will need the money for the move. It is also a good idea to have at least 3 months of mortgage payments tucked away in case of emergency.
  • Apply for a loan before you actually go looking for your new home. Did you know that many sellers accept offers from people who are pre-qualified even if the offer on the house is lower?

As a Loan Broker I can help you find your way through the maze of home loans as well as all the other paper work. It is a good idea to be pre-approved for a loan before you make an offer on a house.

Location, Location, Location

  • When choosing a location, find a neighborhood you are going to like.
  • What are the most important factors for you?
  • Distance to work (commute time)
    Good Schools for your children
    Worship Places
Easy access to local Facilities: Shopping, Library, Gym, Museums
Easy access to freeways - there are 8 major freeways that cross Houston, and three beltways surrounding Houston.
    Distance from the Medical Center

Your Dream Home

There are many factors to consider when choosing a home. It is important that the home will have all the basic amenities you are looking for. It also have to be designed for the purpose you are going to need. At different stages of our lives our needs change. A two story home maybe perfect for a young family, but could be the wrong choice for an elderly couple. A big back yard sounds great if you have young children or maybe pets, but will be the wrong choice for someone who does not have the time to maintain it.
It is my goal to help you find the home you need right here in Houston. To do so, I will need to gather some information so that together we can find the best home for you.
